What are Shrugging Shoulders?

Sex dolls are made of an internal, metallic, flexible skeleton which allows posing of the doll. An example of this skeleton is shown below.

Each of the joints in this skeleton can be flexed. Hinged joints can flex in one direction. Ball joints can usually flex and rotate. However, the majority of skeletons do not allow for the shoulders to move up and downwards. This is referred to as "shrugging shoulders".

The shrugging shoulders features is an advanced option available from some manufacturers, and then only on models where permitted. Shrugging may not be available on every model.
